We’d like to thank everybody who voted for us in the Skogsröjet competition; we seem to have finished last and we promise we won’t bug you with any more competitions from now on!
Next up in the Egonaut agenda is the Stay Awake Festival here in Borås, then we will be resuming the songwriting for the next album, we’re hoping to be ready to enter the studio in September/October!

EGONAUT ‘ELECTRIC’ (BASTARD ROCK RECORDS/RAMBO MUSIC/SWEDEN IMPORT)

A strong voice, a tight well-produced hardrockin’ sound and a catchy tune, that is all it takes to get the attention at the start of a CD and gladly EGONAUT succeeds on their first full-length CD ‘Electric’. The band comes out of a small Swedish town that is located somewhere between the cities of Goteborg and Boras. Their music is massive guitar riff based Hardrock with elements of Sleazy Rock, Melodic Heavy Rock and traditional Metal. They have already shared the stage with bands like HAMMERFALL, SONIC SYNDICATE and HARDCORE SUPERSTAR and already released 3 EP’s before this album. Formed in 2005, they have built up a reputation as live-band and now are releasing a strong debut album that is filled with big massive Hard/Heavy Rock that here and there comes even dangerously (in a good way) close to classic early 90s Sleazy Hardrock of their country mates of NASTY IDOLS, although perhaps CRASH DIET and HARDCORE SUPERSTAR might be better comparisons, especially during the catchy uptempo headcrushers “Back home” and “Generation waste”, both being excellent sing-a-long tunes that would make MOTLEY CRUE and SKID ROW jealous! Egonaut are proud to announce that we will be heading into the studio later this month to record a couple of tracks to an upcoming tribute album in celebration of the mighty Lake of Tears 20th anniversary!

Finally, our blog is up and running; egonautsweden.rocknytt.net . Unfortunetly it’s only available in swedish due to the fact that rocknytt is a swedish online-zine.

(Egonaut – Electric)
Jag försöker bekanta mig med Egonaut. Googlar… Aha! Dom bloggar och dom Twittrar. Det är alltså ett modernt band jag har att göra med. Och modernt låter det också. Nästan lite sökt modernt. Man hör att dom har letat fram en stil som dom vill tillhöra. Ja, dom har tagit det längre än så. Dom har skapat sin egen stil och den kallar dom Bastardrock. Benämningen på denna nya genre låter tuff tycker jag. Bastardrock. Jag säger det på både engelska och svenska. Bastardrock. Funkar på båda språken. Men det är något som saknas för att jag ska falla på knä och lägga allmosor in the church of the bastards kollekt. Musiken låter inte tillräckligt aggressiv. Med detta sagt låter det fortfarande väldigt bra om Egonauts debut ”Electric”.
Det första jag lyssnar på är ”Back home” Den rivstartar och jag är med på noterna. En mycket bra öppning väller fram. Men så jag hör Offspring… Men det är något som tack och lov sköljs bort ju mer jag lyssnar. ”Back home” har ett klockrent slut som ger mig gåshud. Enda minuset är ett solo som inte är tillräckligt uppbackat av den övriga ljud bilden.
Något som genomsyrar den här skivan är orgeln. Men jag kan inte få grepp om det är riktig orgel eller en orgel plugg? Fast oavsett om det är en levande eller död musiker så är det en bra ide att kasta in en orgel i den här mixen.
Intryck nummer två kommer då jag spelar ”The Crossing”. Eller kanske ska jag säga ”Sabbath bloody sabbath” som jag tycker att det påminner väldigt mycket om inledningsvis. En annan likhet med tidigare nämnda klassiker är att det är en tung bra låt med skönt tuggande gitarrer. Det stora pluset kommer någonstans halvvägs då det dyker upp en koskälla vilket alltid får mig på fall.
”I don’t wanna be me” har något släpigt och uppgivet över sig. Låten är oförskämt cool och stannar kvar. Det är en av de låtar i vilken jag inte hittar tydliga influenser från andra band. Det gör jag däremot i nästa låt: ”The Goner”. En bra låt med skönt galopperande gitarrer. Flera gånger tänker jag på ”Detroit rock city”. Ja det är inte mycket, men det finns där.
”The hurt” är också bra. Mycket intressant början som bygger upp förväntningarna. Förväntningar som också infrias. Det blir tungt och det blir vackert.
Något som slår mig i min research, där jag ögnat igenom bilder från studion och turné är att i Egonauts verklighet verkar de vara ett band som lever efter tydliga Lemmyideal. Med en Jack Daniels osande skitighet och en careless attityd. Detta går inte riktigt ihop med deras promotionbilder där det radar upp sig i enhetliga munderingar bestående av slips och hängslen. Men jag har egentligen inte tid att bedöma Egonauts yttre. För nu sitter jag nämligen och spelar lufttrummor. Jag lyssnar på ”Losers lane” Och nu är jag glad. ”Losers lane” sätter spiken i kistan. Sången blir argare. Något jag saknat på andra spår. Det här är en låt som hamnar på finhyllan i min iPod.
Egonaut är kanske små bastarder ändå.

Awards, Blog, Record Heaven and a Happy New Year video!

Greetings dear friends,

Alot has happend for them Egos lately. Finally our album Electric has been released outside of Sweden and is now available for both customers and distributors at Record Heaven.

Last week Rocknytt:s Kenneth Gustafsson presented his ”Best of 2011″-list, and Egonaut was awarded in the following categories:
-Album of the year #9
-Song of the year #10 (The Hurt)
-Debut album of the year #2
-Musician of the year #1 (Dennis Zielinski, Organ)

By the first of January, our Booking label and Management changed their company name from APX to Showdown Booking & Management. A link to their new website will soon be available at egonaut.se. There will also be a link added to our brand new blog… more info about that will be posted later.

Gig report and radio news

Hi folks, fans, friends and foes.
We just want to take the opportunity to thank all of you who came to see us in Gothenburg at Stickt Fingers and Varberg at Socitén. Those were both kick-ass shows and we’re very pleased that we where invited to play. We’ll add some pictures from the gigs into the gallery within a few days.
We are also very glad to announce that some of the few radiostations we’ve contacted has agreed to play some songs from Electric on air.

It is highly probable that most of you are not be familiar with EGONAUT. But it is not a new band and I had the pleasure to review their last two EP’s. So after some months, I found out that they were going to release their debut full length. This September, “Electric” hit the stress and here I am, after a short delay writing a review about it.
EGONAUT come from Sweden and were formed in 2005 by Fredrik and Markus. During the first years, EGONAUT were trying to find a personal sound having released three EP’s with a series live appearances supporting bands like HARDCORE SUPERSTAR and MUSTASCH. The band signed a record deal with Rambo music and their debut full length album is already out.
What about the album itself? “Electric” is like the sum of their previously released EP’s. The music is a mixture of Hard Rock, a bit of Stoner, some 70’s pinches and scattered Punk elements. The band describes the music as “bastard Rock” and counting all the mixed music genres, it is not far from the truth. “Back Home”, the album opener, grabs the listener by the throat from the very first moments with the riff and the drum work. The mix and the production are very good and you can hear everything in the album on the right volume. The album continues at the same pace and even though you may think “this sounds familiar”, you will definitely have a great time. My favorite songs from this album are “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” and “Losers Lane”, were I really like the organ arrangements in the back.

Overall, “Electric” may not be the album of the year, but you if you give it a chance you won’t be disappointed no matter if you like Punk or Hard Rock, or if you just want to listen to good music. Oh, and I surely want to see what is going on in the front rows when they are playing live “Generation Waste”.
